Marshall Declares Candidacy for County Sheriff

Assistant Sheriff Rick Marshall, a 15-year veteran of the Nye County Sheriff’s Department, has announced he will run for sheriff in the November election.

Marshall began his 19-year career in law enforcement working for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department in California as a reserve deputy in 1979. In 1983, he became a paid deputy for Ventura County. In 1986, he worked for a year and a half in the private sector as a grocery store assistant manager before returning to law enforcement.

In 1987, Marshall began work for the Nye County Sheriff’s Department in Gabbs, became a sergeant in Beatty in 1989, was promoted to chief deputy in 1991 and assistant sheriff in 1994.
